Karma and Karma's Effect

1.       Not to kill but to set lives free is to create blessing, a proactive so easy; not to eat meat is our human dignity. For we were born to live, to learn to love, be free. There is nothing great to shout about, just do not kill in your deeds, speech, thoughts. Bad karma you will then not create, only blessing you reaps and takes.
2.       Whenever the ancient people have done a good deed, they will put a red bean into a bottle as a mark. And when a bad deed has been done, they too put a black bean into a different bottle. After a year has passed, they would count the beans to check on the number of good and bad deeds that they had done.
3.       If in this life one likes to fight, enjoys killing animals and destroying their homes, and is happy when someone’s dislike has passed away in one’s next life, the life span will be short.
4.       When everyone knows of his evil deeds, or his notoriety is already well-known, we can prevent others and our friends from his evil doings by taking him as an example. By doing so, we are generation good blessings.
5.       Nobody can escape death. When a person leaves the world he takes along nothing with him, except his karmic seeds of good or bad deeds. It is said: “at death not even one of 10,000 things. We can bring; except only the karmic seeds of every deed we did.”
6.       If in this one practices compassion and Equanimity and avoid killing, and is always happy to help others in one’s next life one will have a long life-span.
7.       The sensual desires are: attachment to beauty, to sweet music, to perfumed unguents, to tasty flavors and to soothing touch. To every layperson, the 5 sensual desires are always creating karmic afflictions. And deep down is his heart, there is not a single day when he can be completely satisfied with them.
8.       When a person is thinking of doing evil, but has not started to do it, we can persuade or hinder him from doing so. Such a timely intervention already produces well.
9.       Before person begins to dog a good deed and we had encouraged him to carry it out, this is called “attaining blessings of carrying out a good deed, and we supported and helped him out this is called “attaining blessing through charitable acts”.

10.   Our six roots: Eye, ear, nose, tongue, body and mind, create and result in various good and bad karma. For e.g.: someone may be born rich but has a crooked mouth.

Cause Effect

1.       If in the past we had committed robbery and created bad karma that will cause us to suffer from lungs and nose problems. But after we had started to uphold the precept of not stealing, our lung and nose problems will gradually diminish. Such is the truth that “upholding precepts can diminish karmic debts”.
2.       If in the life on does evil’ deeds and easily gets Angry; if one often gets jealous or likes to scold people, in the next life, karmic retribution will be rebirth with an ugly and crooked mouth.
3.       If in this life on mixes with people who disbelieve in the karmic retribution of the 3 periods time, and also embraces deviant and immoral, knowledge and values, in one’s next life one will have a low and deficient mind.
4.       A person is rich but is repulsive and ugly; this is because in the past one was generous but easily lost one’s temper.
5.       All the ill-omens and bad luck that we encounter in this life is a direct result of our past evil action and thoughts.
6.       Those who ill-treat animals in the past or in this present life will meet with many sicknesses in life.
7.       Behaving proud arrogant in the past life will result in being born despicable and lowly in this life.
8.       Even as we uphold precepts in this life, sometimes we will also incur bad karma and become sick. Just because we fell sick while upholding precepts, we should not be discouraged to continue this practice. While we are upholding precepts and still fall sick, this is a sign that our past bad karma has lessened. It is an early sign that our past bad karma has lessened. It is an early sign that our karma is diminishing.
9.      Sakyamuni Buddha originally attained to the state of such ness, where sicknesses are absent, but because he wanted to liberate people from the cycle of rebirth, he has to present himself as a normal being with a conditioned body that is subjective to sicknesses. Although when they are sick, their mental states are always clear, pure and blissful.

10.   Our human karma is quite unique, just as what we perceive is also different. For e.g.: A human being sees water as water; a ghost sees water as blood; heavenly beings sees water as crystal; a fish sees water as its home, and to leave it is equal to death.

Cause of Effect

1.      The supreme sages: the lord Buddha can understand the unlimited past, future and present to say it more clearly: he completely understands the unlimited three periods of Time and Space.
2.       If in the past, one beat, tortured and caned living beings, in this life ulcers and sores will grow on one’s body.
3.       The Buddhist Text state: Sages that have cut off the streams of karmic afflictions will be able to understand the history within the past 84,000 Kalpas. (I kalpais 1343.840,000 years).
4.       When you perform virtuous deeds, you will receive good blessings; when you commit evil acts, you will receive bad endings. Good seeds bear good fruits; Bad seeds bear bad fruits; this is law of karmic retribution.
5.       The Avatamsaka Sutra states: Bodhisattvas at the third stage of spiritual attainments; are ale to understand their immediate past life, their 2nd and 3rd past lives, their past hundred lives, even their past thousand lives Unlimited hundred thousand past lives. For example: able to remember the formation and destruction of the world, one’s own name, family clanship, one’s span of life, one’s physical appearances, one’s happy and unhappy experiences, the paces we were born and died.
6.       We remember and celebrate each anniversary old our ancestors or late parents, and also other special festive days in the year, even our own birthdays. But if we do not cultivate “ceiling on desires”, we are as good as having lost I precious year of our life-time.
7.       If a man is born handsome and a woman beautiful, it is because in the past, they practiced hospitality and were I charitable to others.
8.       Practicing giving increases fortune.
Setting lives free begets longevity. One good thought transports us to heaven.
One evil thought delivers us into Hell. Cause and Effect is just and fair, like yin and yang complementing each other.
In our Sana world there are jails; in the neither world there is Hell. Doing good or bad all come from you, wait not when Death is near to know its true.
9.       Attachment to tastes normally results in sicknesses of the heart.

10.   Perform a good act, bad karma you subtract;
prevent a certain death. Good karma you add.
Influence a person never to kill; thousands of live are already saved by you. What if a thousand people you in still. What greatness one virtuous act can fulfill!!!!!

Reflecting Degenerations

As a result of unchecked degeneration activities, eventually, the merit of sentient beings will decrease until their lifespan dwindles down to a mere thirty, twenty and finally ten years. The body of sentient beings will eventually be no more than the size of thumb. During this period, when the life span of beings is declining, three distinctive time periods will occur. These three intermediate periods occur at the end of every declining phase within a given aeon. These are known as 1) the period of famine; 2) the period of plague; 3) the period of weapons. (During the specific time period there exist a way out.

After the period of weapons has passed, the remaining survivors will venture form the mountains and forests back towards towns and cities. Catching sight of others, for the very first time in their lives, they will experience joy and kindness. It is said that during the time after the period of weapons, an emanation of bodhisattva Maitreya will appear in this world. The surviving human beings of that time will have very small bodies, and the body of maitreya will be larger and highly charismatic. Seeing maitreya, the human beings of that time will be amazed, wondering how he could be so much taller than they are. Maitreya will answer saying I have attained such body by following and practicing Buddha's teaching. Buddha maitreya extended his compassion; guidance and wisdom to garner the people also abide in full faith and devotion. This changed behavior lead to accumulation of merit and subsequently to increase in lifespan of up to twenty years in their descendants. Hence, the emanation of maitreya in this human world will mark the beginning of another ascending phase within a given aeon. The virtuous karma gained by abandoning negative activities will result in progressive increase in life span of the human beings form 10 years to 80,000 years.

in order to prevent from these three time periods of famine, plague and war, it is recommended to make offerings such as food and medicine to sangha for avoiding famine and plague. In order to avoid war period, we have to avoid taking lives of any sentient beings.

"in this peak of samsaric world, there is hardly genuine peace and happiness. However they may seem, samsaric, affairs always end in disaster." However industrious you may be, there is no end to worldly activities, but if you practice Dharma, you will swiftly conclude everything. So recognizing the suffering of samsara, turn towards the dharma practice. As you practice the Dharma steadily, even in quite a modest way, you will gradually be able to progress further and further on the path to liberation. Eventually, you will attain a true happiness that can never diminish.

Reflecting on five Degenerations

As expounded by the great protector Khuenkhen Pema Karpo, the protector and guardian of the teachings of past, present and future times, lord Shakyamuni appeared towards the end of the fourth era, "the era of strife" in which beings all quarrel with one another.

Each of the thousand buddhas of the fortunate Aeon will appear within these four eras. But among all these thousand Buddha's, Buddha shakyamuni appeared appear during the era of strife, at a time when the five degenerations are flourishing. It is this period in which we presently find ourselves.
The five degenerations are the:

Degeneration of lifespan;
Degeneration of Time;
Degeneration of Affliction;
Degeneration of Sentient Beings;
Degeneration of Actions

During the golden age (the age of perfection), there was no need for sunlight or moonlight for beings radiated light form their own bodies. They could move miraculously through space and they lived without needing any solid food. All creatures naturally abided by the ten virtues. But as time passed, they began to harm each other and gave way to their desires to steal lie and kill. Hence their desires to steal lie and kill. Hence their natural luminosity diminished and had to depend on sun and moon for light; they lost their ability to fly, they began to need solid nourishment. People were ill intentioned and full of deceit. They put themselves first and disregard the needs of others. Whoever flatters them they regard them as friends and whoever contradict and oppose them enemy. These attitudes gradually distorted their views, word and actions the cumulative effect of all negative activities has transpired into the current time period known as the "five degeneration". This is the period when five degeneration are flourishing like never before.

The degeneration of time refers to the era of strife like our time in which beings are tormented by famine, illness and war. The degeneration of sentient beings refers to the situation of begins born during the era of strife and also implies that the character of beings has progressively deteriorated through the course of the four eras. The degeneration of lifespan refers to the fact that during the era of strife, the lifespan of beings decline from one hundred years all the way down to ten years. Note that Buddha shkyamuni appeared at a time when the lifespan was at the limit of one hundred years. No Buddha in the fortunate anon ever appears when the lifespan of beings is less than one hundred years. The degeneration of actions means that during the era of strife all sentient beings will engage in the ten non-virtuous actions. The degeneration of afflictions indicated that in the era of strife the afflictions of ignorance, desire, anger, jealousy and pride are so strong that worldly remedies cannot overcome them. The degeneration of views means that people in the era of strife the regard to existence of triple gem. Life after death, case and effect (karma) etc will doctorate.

path of Application, Insight, Meditation and No more Learning

Path of application:

In the four levels of this path. one trains in the first levels of this path, known as "heat" and "climax". One also get trained in the five faculties, enabling one to generate liberative virtues: faith, diligence, awareness, contemplation and wisdom. The last two levels one trains in the five powers in whch antidotes are more powerful and the defilements are weaker than in the case of the four faculties as above.
Path of insight:
In this path one train in the seven branches of the path of enlightenment and these are the training in and support of wisdom free form conceptualizations, the realization of suchness, and the ultimate nature of the four noble truths. By realizing the path of insight one attains the first of the ten stages.
The seven branches of the path of enlightenment are:
Awareness; unforgetfulness of the insight realization.
Discrimination; wisdom which destroys the characteristics of the concept of self.
Diligence; joyfulness in the efforts which apply to the realization.
Joy; joyfulness in contemplation and realization of the truth.
Pliancy; physical and mental maturation of bliss without emotions.
Contemplation; contemplating one pointedly on the state free form emotions.
Equanimity; remaining in the nature free from emotions.
These are meditations on and for developing the realization which is or leads to the freedom from suffering, detachment from the source of suffering, dwelling in the cessation.
Path of meditation:

In this path once trains of the "eightfold noble path". In this context, the eightfold noble path is for progressing and perfecting the realization which one has attained in the path of insight. It consists of contemplation on the ultimate nature.
Path of no more learning:
After completion of the four paths and ten stages and the abandoning of the two obscurations, the emotional and intellectual obscurations with their traces, one attains the fifth path Buddha hood, which possesses the two bodies and five wisdoms.
There are numerous paths detailed in the Buddhist canon, and it would take years and even lifetimes to study each and every one of them. The reason there are so many path is because different methods appeal to different people, who are influenced by their own habitual ways of thinking and the goals they wish to achieve through practice. However, no matter what path we study, we will find one thing to be true in every case. The purpose of giving teachings on the path is to provide us with the means of attaining the skills and experience we need to reach liberation. So we must first understand exactly what the "path" is before embarking on to practice when put into this context.

Path of Accumulation

no one has ever attained the final result without relying upon the holistic path. As said in Nagarjuna's letter to a friend, "He who ruled the universe as king will be a slave within samsara's wheel." As per Buddhist Sutra, "Birth is suffering; old age is suffering; sickness is suffering; death is suffering. Separation from what is loved is suffering; not having what one wants is suffering; having what one does not want is suffering taking care of wealth and reducing them is also suffering. In the ordinary samsaric condition, there is nothing but suffering. Beings have been trapped in the ocean of suffering in the cyclic existence due to their karma, negative emotions, and habitual tendencies since beginning less time and on recognizing the suffering of samsara, the way to free form them is to practice the Dharma. By practicing Dharma steadily, the results of countless lifetimes and kalpas of negative actions can be purified which can be progressively pursued through five paths until attaining the fully enlightened state, Buddha hood.

The five paths are:
path of accumulation, path of application,
path of insight,
path of meditation,
path of no more learning.

Path of accumulation:
In the three levels of this path one practices three sets of four training in the thirty seven aspects of enlightenment. In the small level, one reflects on the meaning of the four noble truths' through the four mindfulness of body, mindfulness of feeling, mindfulness of mind and mindfulness of phenomena. In the mediocre level, one train in the four perfect purification, they are the training in the vigor produced as a result of training in the fourfold awareness:
Not to generate any unvirtuousness this has not been generated; to generate virtues which have not been generated; to abandon all the unvirtuousness which has been generated and To increase the virtues which have been generated.
In the great level, one trains in the four miraculous contemplation. As the effect of vigor, these are the means of training in one pointed contemplation's of mind: admiration, diligence, mind and analysis (wisdom).

Brief History of Buddhism {part 3}

If you are mistaken to identify the right place of refuge the triple gem, then you are following the wrong path that takes you to the wrong direction and in due course, you will have to suffer a lot as there is no end for life. therefore, unless for the sake of temporary well being and modernization, we have to study the other countries culture, technologies, economics, languages and agriculture mechanisms etc. but one shouldn't rely on their religion that can get enlightenment. There is a scholarly saying " what has been believed by our father is a path to be followed by children", if we ignore the best practices that have been followed by our fathers and devoted towards negative refuges, the course of disregarding the triple gem will erase all your merit and virtues that you have accumulated so far and you will be born in the lower realms for innumerable future lifetimes. Therefore, realizing that the triple gem is the best place of refuge and a crucial source of merit, you have to endeavor towards practicing virtuous deeds and progressively by the blessing of the Triple Gem; your wishes of both temporary and next generation's wellbeing will be fulfilled.
As you are now born in the Buddha land you should not forget our refuge guardians and if you cannot practice the Buddhist principal well then it will be exactly like " facing the mouth inside and mind, outside" [depending for food in house, but working and thinking for another house] as cited by the Buddhist scholars. Therefore, my earnest request to all "please don'tt misunderstand the concept and have a concrete and unflagging faith towards the of Buddha dharma"

Brief History of Buddhism {part 2}

Whatever it may be when it comes to its time no one can stop similarly, by its time to tame that land by the present and future protector his holiness Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyal, without being made any plea to the guardians, the protective deities encouraged to turn his horse saddle towards the southern land. Right after the arrival in the country, the mountainous people who were then the barbarian and were all put under control by his noble four actions and introduced justice to the citizen and handle to an urn. The virtuous deeds have been implemented and initiated the dual system which is considered as the highest contribution and still been in practice without any infraction and manipulation. The introduction of the dual system; the secular and the political system has been a main source of both contemporary and future tranquility and an independent nation therefore; it is the kindness of his noble initiative that Bhutan now is an exemplary to the world today. It is obvious that, Bhutan is the only country in the world where the Buddhism still prevails with unique dual system tradition. Unlike in other countries, there are mixtures of tradition and culture and Bhutan and Tibet were only the countries that are governed by the principals of Buddhism but unfortunately, Tibet is not governed by the Buddhism anymore.

Generally speaking, in the world there are many religious organizations and if we summarize these religions, it will be summarized in two different groups; the religion that is followed in accordance to the principal of lord Buddha is "Nangpa"[Buddhism] and the opposite to the Buddhism are all phyelpa [the outsider] the other religions. The Buddhist practitioners are those who from the very beginning be acquainted with the triple gem as there is a saying " I have no loss in offering to the Triple Gem", similarly, if we are devoted towards the Triple Gem or the Three Jewel, by the virtue of devotion we will enjoy the tranquility of celestial and human being and gradually there is an opportunity for an ultimate enlightenment. Unlike the Triple Gem, the unenlightened Gods like Vishnu, Great Brahmas and Jesus Christ, they have no potential to protect form being born in the lower realms and miseries of all existence. Therefore, the triple gem is the intimate guardian of the present, future and during the intermediate life and in one is fully dedicated, and then there is no doubt that you are blessed and experience that tranquility of celestial, worldly affairs and lots more. If you are a follower of lord Shiva, Vishnu Great Brahmas and Jesus Christ just for the time being, you might experience everything is going well up to your expectations but they are helpless to bestow you the ultimate enlightenment as a prisoner has not power to set another prisoner free, so they are themselves bounded within the worldly beings.

Brief History of Buddhism {part 1}

To all the intelligent citizens of Bhutan after the expression of offering, I would like to mention here a brief history of Buddhism flourished in Bhutan. As it is obvious that no Bhutanese are not acquainted to the triple gem and all the behavior that is not in accordance with the dharma therefore, it is because of the fact that we were born in the land of Buddha dharma. People who do not possess the virtues cannot make it to be born in such fortunate country and by the force of virtuous deeds of the past we are born here in the world and mostly in the country like Bhutan and Nepal. The reason behind why Bhutan and Nepal are unlike other countries is, it is a sacred land where the famous dharmic king like gyalpo tsuga norbu dremedkuenden who were once a previous generations of lord Buddha came in exile and accomplished the noble bodhisattva acts.

Later after lord Buddha's enlightenment and in the mist of the various discourses, while the lord Buddha was preaching the sutra of suryagarbha, a light aroused from the body of lord Buddha and his retinues flashed towards the northern regions and blessed as the source of Buddhism in later periods. The show there is death to all the worldly beings, the lord Buddha entered Nirvana in kushnagar. Exactly, believed to be the 2nd Buddha, guru padmasambawa also visited to country for two times. Various treasures of dharma and properties etc. where concealed in the mountains, cliffs, hills, lakes and rocks and converted into sacred hidden land. Later, during the 10th century onwards, numerous Buddhist saints and scholars came to Bhutan and have been blessed as well. Moreover, an embodiment of the compassionate lord avaloketeshvara stepped in the world in a disguised manner of dorje chang, vajra beares] zhabdrung Nawang Namgyal. His advent to Bhutan was in accordance to the prediction of guru padmasambawa and tsangpaJerey (reincarnation of an Indian maha siddha Penchen NAropa) and also an invitation of our protective deity Pal YesheyGyonpo and offering the land to be tamed.

Suffering of Death

Suffering of death
Life is such a precious thing that all the riches of the world could not be exchanged for it. Yet no once can escape the pains of death. When death approaches, you will be fallen to deathbed and will have no strength to get up. You will start disliking of any edible and drinks and cognizant with death. You will become a vessel filled with sputum, mucus, filth and all sorts of dirty things. Reminded by the death and its approach, one suffers more thinking of death. You will regret ones misdeeds of the past only known to yourself and out of regret you beat yourself using your fist to the chest. When the moment comes and you are lying on your deathbed, you must take leave of relatives and friends, wealth, and possessions, just like a hair pushed form a lump of butter. Alone you must go forth into the unknown. It is said in sutra that when king of death arrives to take you hence, only virtue and misdeeds will keep you company. All others will draw back with none to follow you. Understand this well and mend your ways.

In addition to above there are other sufferings such as separation form what is loved; meeting unwanted circumstances; not having what one wants and having what one does not want; having care for already accumulated wealth and many more. Considering all these sufferings, irrespective of young and old, should realize that the undefiled peace and happiness can only be obtained by abandoning unwholesome activities and to cultivate a wealth of virtue is to adopt the positive, beneficial and wholesome activities that are the cause of happiness, again for both ourselves and for others, so is my thinking.

Suffering of Old age and Sickness

Suffering of old age:
The rosy color of youth and the grace and beauty of fresh young bodies are blighted and withered by the dreadful scourge of age. The time will eventually come when you will be afflicted with the misery of being dependent on others, an object of contempt and ridicule, without even the strength to attend to the needs of nature. You will not be able to shift for yourself and must stumble along leaning on a stick. Whenever you move just to get up or sit down or walk from one place to another, your joints will be wrenched and you will fall. Your faculties will be impaired; your sight and hearing will fail, and your tongue will become thick and inarticulate. The beauty of youth such as soft skin all changes and gradually becomes more think, inflexible and becomes a bundle of wrinkles the hair on the head also transforms it color to white and the pleasures youth and enjoyments of the senses will no longer seem pleasant. Even someone who is weaker than oneself can harm you without your ability to protect yourself or fight back. All the actions and world are forgotten right after they are done or said. Your breath also becomes suffocating and you cannot hear and express clearly. You will fail to recognize other people and even yourself. So compounded element becoming too old and nearing death is imminent. All these are sufferings experienced by a person in his old age.

Suffering of sickness;

For beings possessed of bodies composed of the four elements, perfect health is compared to limpid pool in which the humors of wind, bile, and phlegm are in perfect balance. Uneven balance of the four elements results in sickness such as blood pressure, kidney problems and tuberculosis, etc. even though you may have a stout body and robust body,k when you ar seized by sickness, you become as feeble as a little bird and bedridden. At times, you undergo pain so intense that you can hardly answer what is asked you. One top of this, not only are you loaded with pain miseries, but so are your relatives and friends fed-up with your prolonged sickness and cannot even sleep. Finally, many factors, such karmic forces, or harms caused by natural or unnatural disasters, make you get trouble in mind and terrified thinking of death. This is the crucial period when you experience appearance of confusion and disillusionment.

The Suffering of Birth

The inherent nature of the samsara, generally is sufferings. The six state of samsara are utterly permeated by suffering and nowhere is the whole of samsara are beings free from the toils of different kind of pain. In the realm of human world, it is constituted bye unrelenting types of suffering that are intrinsic to the human condition.
Sufferings of birth:
Ws spend nine months in the mother's womb, which is equivalent to thirty eight weeks. For the first week, the suffering in the womb is like being boiled in a copper container. At seven weeks, the limbs are being develops and protrudes from the main fetus. During this time, the suffering is like a strong man holding your limbs and at the same time being flogged. At eleven weeks, nine exits originate and the suffering is like piercing new wounds with the tip of the finger. Other sufferings are, when the mother eats a cold food, the fetus suffers from cold like being kept naked and dipped in the cold water. At other times when the mother goes hungry, the fetus suffers being hung from a cliff. If the mother eats too much or when she jumps, the fetus, suffering is like being pressed between two walls/cliffs. At thirty seven weeks, the fetus is able to conceive that she/he exists within the mother womb which is tight and cramped and utterly lightless, filthy in smell and like being put into a prison and desperately wants to get out of the womb. Then gradually with time, when the times comes for birth, when the fetus is ousted with his hand first through mother's pelvis, the suffering is like being pushed through a hole in the metallic wall. Then after birth when the child is kept on the floor, the child suffers like being thrown on the floor full of thorns. When the child is being wiped, s/he suffers like being touched to a skinless body.

After existing for so long and obscured by ignorance, greed and lust, humans are bound to be selfish and going after wealth and possessions. If someone asks you to stay in a small room full darkness which is filled with filthy smell for three days for an exchange a kilogram of gold, then no one would be willing to undergo the imprisonment. The suffering in the mother's womb is far more painful the aforementioned example.

what is Theravada Buddhist?

Theravada (pronounced — a lot of or less — "terra-VAH-dah"), the "Doctrine of the Elders," is the school of Buddhism that pulls its scriptural inspiration from the Tipitaka, or Pali canon, which students usually agree contains the earliest living record of the Buddha's teachings.[1] For many centuries, Theravada has been the predominant faith of continental Southeast Asia (cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Burm, and Laos) and Sri Lanka. Today Buddhism Buddhists range well over one hundred million worldwide.[2] In recent decades Theravada has begun to take root within the West.

which semiconductor diode to schisms at intervals the Sangha and the emergence of as several as eighteen distinct sects of Buddhism.[3] One of these faculties eventually gave rise to a front that referred to as itself Mahayana the Greater Vehicle . the terms mahayana and hinayana, it is common today to use a lot of neutral language to differentiate between these 2 main branches of Buddhism. Because Buddhism traditionally dominated southern Asia.

Unlike the scriptures of several of the world's nice religions, the Tipitaka is not thought to be gospel, as an unassailable statement of on religion. Instead, its teachings are meant to be assessed primary, to be put into observe in one's life therefore that one will ascertain for oneself if they are doing, in fact, yield the promised results. It is the reality towards which the words within the Tipitaka purpose that ultimately matters, not the words themselves. Although students can continue to discussion the authorship of passages from the Tipitaka for years to come back (and so miss the purpose of those teachings entirely).

Buddhist beliefs

Buddhism like most other religions has many completely different divisions or branches of philosophy.

The two main divisions of Buddhism square measure Theravada (Hinayana) and Buddhism.

Theravada Buddhism is taken into account the orthodox faculty. It is considered to be more true to Buddha Buddha’s teachings than Mahayana. Theravada was the original faculty of Buddhist philosophy. Its scriptures are in Pali, the language that Buddha taught in. At present, Theravada Buddhism is to be found in Ceylon, its main bastion, and also in Myanmar, Thailand and alternative components of South East Asia.

The terms ‘Mahayana’ and ‘Hinayana’ were given by the Mahayana school. Mahayana means the larger path and Hinayana the Lesser path, so though the Hinayana colleges were earlier than the Mahayana and also the a lot of orthodox, they were given an inferior name that has sadly stuck. The Mahayana texts describe 18 completely different colleges underneath the Hinayana branch, but of these solely the Theravada faculty is living nowadays.

The two divisions take issue in their philosophy right from their Metaphysical definitions, on their Ontology. Theravada follows Realistic metaphysics whereas Mahayana follows Idealistic metaphysics.

The Buddha’s heart was filled with compassion for his fellow beings, and the goal of his teachings was to alleviate us of our suffering. For this, metaphysical speculation is not necessary, and in fact it is harmful by keeping US engaged in conjectures and arguments.

Buddha compared it with a man who has Associate in Nursing arrow stuck in his chest. It is not necessary now to grasp the length and breadth of the arrow or what wood it's product of. The important factor is to get the arrow out. So additionally in faith, the main thing is to guide a life that may guide US out of sorrow and to not savours metaphysical dialogues.

Thus arose the taboo queries of Buddhism, the 62 illegal. Buddha expressly forbade that these questions ought to be asked. In the pure form instructed by Buddha, these queries square measure thought-about harmful and the true aspirant is taboo to have interaction his or her mind on these questions.

But the traditional individual, and specially in a country like India wherever philosophical speculation is therefore vital, can hardly forbear from metaphysical speculation. Immediately once the Buddha’s death. This was done mainly in 3 ‘Sanghas’ or massive conclaves command once his death.

What is Buddhism and Meditation

Buddha Shakyamuni who lived and educated in Asian nation some 2 and a 0.5 thousand years past. The Buddhist way of life of peace, loving kindness and knowledge is simply as relevant nowadays because it was in ancient Asian nation. our suffering and problems are arise from confused and negative states of mind  Buddha explained that all, and that all our happiness and destiny arise from peaceful and positive states of mind. He taught strategies for step by step overcoming anger, such as jealousy and ignorance our negative mind, and developing our positive minds such as love, compassion and wisdom. Through this we can come back to expertise lasting peace and happiness. These methods work for anyone, in any country, in any age. Once we have gained expertise of them for ourselves we are able to pass them on to others so that they can also fancy identical edges.

Meditation

Meditation is at the heart of the Buddhist way of life. It is basically a way for understanding and dealing on our own mind. We initial learn to establish our totally different negative mental states called ‘delusions’, and learn how to develop peaceful and positive mental states or ‘virtuous minds’.

Breathing and Benefits of Meditation

The first stage of meditation is to prevent distractions and build our mind clearer and a lot of lucid. This can be accomplished by practising an easy respiration meditation. We select a quiet place to meditate and sit during a snug position. We will sit within the ancient cross-legged posture or in the other position that's snug. If we wish, we will sit during a chair. The most important issue is to stay our back straight to forestall our mind from changing into sluggish or sleepy-eyed.

At first, our mind will be terribly busy, and we tend to may even feel that the meditation is creating our mind busier; however really we ar simply changing into a lot of attentive to however busy our mind really is. There will be a good temptation to follow the various thoughts as they arise, but we tend to ought to resist this and stay centered single-pointedly on the feeling of the breath.

BENEFITS OF MEDITATION

Our mind can feel lucid and spacious and we tend to will feel invigorated. When the ocean is rough, sediment is churned up and the water becomes murky, but once the wind dies down the mud bit by bit settles and the water becomes clear.
Even though respiration meditation is merely a preliminary stage of meditation, it can be quite powerful. We will see from this observe that it's attainable to expertise inner peace and happiness simply by dominant the mind, without having to rely at all upon external conditions.
So a lot of of the strain and tension we tend to unremarkably expertise comes from our mind

When the turbulence of distracting thoughts subsides and our mind becomes still, contentment naturally arises from at intervals. This feeling of contentment and well-being helps U.S. to address the activity and difficulties of everyday life. So a lot of of the strain and tension we tend to unremarkably expertise comes from our mind, and many of the issues we tend to expertise, including unwell health, are caused or aggravated by this stress.

MEDITATION POSTURE

When we tend to practise meditation we'd like to own a cushty seat and a decent posture. The most important feature of the posture is to stay our back straight. To help United States do that, if we tend to area unit sitting on a cushion we create certain that the rear of the cushion is slightly on top of the front, inclining our pelvis slightly forward. It is not necessary initially to sit down cross-legged, but it is a decent plan to become at home with sitting within the posture of Buddha Vairochana. If we tend to cannot hold this posture we ought to sit in one that is as near this as attainable whereas remaining comfy.

The seven features of Vairochana’s posture are:

The right hand is placed within the manus, palms upwards, with the tips of the thumbs slightly raised and gently touching. The hands are control regarding four fingers’ breadth below the navel. This helps us to develop sensible concentration. The right hand symbolizes methodology and also the manus symbolizes knowledge – the 2 along symbolize the union of method and knowledge.
The back is straight but not tense.
The lips and teeth are control as usual, but the tongue touches against the back of the higher teeth. This prevents excessive salivation whereas conjointly preventing our mouth from turning into too dry.

The head is tipped a trifle forward with the chin slightly tucked in so the eyes area unit troubled. This helps prevent mental excitement.
The eyes are neither wide open nor utterly closed, but stay 0.5 open and gaze down on the line of the nose. If the eyes area unit wide open we tend to area unit seemingly to develop mental excitement and if they area unit closed we tend to are seemingly to develop mental sinking.

A further feature of Vairochana’s posture is that the preliminary respiration meditation, which prepares our mind for developing a sensible motivation. When we tend to sit all the way down to meditate our mind is typically filled with troubling thoughts, and we cannot straight off convert such a state of mind into the virtuous one we'd like as our motivation. A negative, disturbed state of mind is like pitch-black fabric. We cannot dye dark fabric any different color unless we tend to initial take away all the black dye and create the material white once more.

Why Learn to Meditate

WHY LEARN TO MEDITATE
Eventually, we can be able to keep happy all the time, even in the most difficult circumstances.

The purpose of meditation is to form our mind calm and peaceful. If our mind is peaceful, we can be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we are going to expertise true happiness; however if our mind isn't peaceful, we can notice it terribly tough to be happy, even if we live within the best conditions. If we train in meditation, a lot of peaceful will become bit by bit in our mind and purer sort and we can expertise a purer  of happiness. Eventually, even in the most difficult circumstances, we can be able to keep happy all the time.

Usually we tend to notice it tough to regulate our mind. It seems as if our mind is like a balloon within the wind – blown here and there by external circumstances. If our mind is happy every things go well, but immediately becomes  sand if they go badly. For example, if we tend to get what we need, such as a brand new possession or a brand new partner, we become excited and cling to them tightly. However, since we tend to cannot have everything we need, and since we tend to can inevitably be separated from the chums and possessions we presently relish, this mental stickiness, or attachment, serves only to cause America pain. On the other hand, if we do not get what we would like, or if we tend to lose one thing that we like, we become heartsick or irritated. For example, if we tend to ar forced to work with a colleague whom we dislike, we can most likely become irritated and feel aggrieved, with the result that we can be unable to figure with him or her with efficiency and our time at work can become nerve-racking and profitless.

By training in meditation, we produce associate inner house and clarity that allows America to regulate our mind

We ar like a kid creating a sandcastle United Nations agency is worked up once it's 1st created, but United Nations agency becomes upset once it is destroyed by the incoming tide. By training in meditation, we produce associate inner house and clarity that allows America to regulate our mind no matter the external circumstances.

The Vows of Individual Liberations

Just like the mother earth serve as the basic ground for all sentient beings to dwell on, uploading different types of vows are fundamental for peace and happiness for this life and after life. According to the word of Lord Buddha and the commentaries and treaties made by the Buddhist scholars, it is mentioned that there are three types of vows; 1) the vows of individual liberation. 2) The vows of bodhisattvas 3) the vows of yogis. Amongst these three vows, I would like to explain little bit about the vows of individual liberation.
Literally, the vows of individual liberation were transcribed from Sankrit name "prati-moksha, prati meaning individual and moksha meaning liberation. It is said that if an individual takes these set of vows and strictly follows or abides by them, then an individual liberation can be attained, even within the vows of individual liberation there are eight types of vows based on individual person. They are as follows:- Laymen both male and female. Novice monk and Nun, Monk and Nun, Trainee, Fasting vows. For layperson, these vows of individual liberation can be taken only when the person aspire for complete enlightenment (Tsenzhe) after comprehending the sufferings of this cyclic existence. Then the vow of individual liberation can be bestowed and the vow constitutes broadly to avoid committing negative action through body and speech. From the commentaries of abhidharmakosha. The vows of individual emancipation are to refrain from negative activities resulting from body and speech.

One should uphold the vows by refraining from conducting the three negative physical actions and four negative speech actions. Physically one should refrain from 1) killing 2) stealing 3) sexual misconduct and by speech one should avoid 1) lying 2) creating misunderstanding between people 3) harsh words and 4) gossiping. And these vows of individual liberation can be bestowed to any person who voluntarily seeks these vows of individual liberation can be bestowed to any person who voluntarily seeks these vows in full awareness of its advantages and consequences of breaking the vows. As the vows of individual liberation are the cause of enlightenment and taking birth in celestial and human realms, however if the individual is not able to uphold these vows than in the next generation one will be born animal realm. If you earnestly abide by the vows/disciplines which are the ultimate source of all peacefulness, you will be free from samara and born in the realm of Gods. As the benefits of the vows is immeasurable I request everyone to receive the eight (sets of) vows of individual emancipation and abide by as you prefer.
